Found this in one of my Paris trip folders!
I am pretty sure that this bag will be outdated after the Fall/Winter 2009 so if you are a looking for one that will still be in style for the next few seasons, this is not it. But by itself, it is a pretty bag with the green shades on the softened Python leather body. I had initially thought that the shoulder strap was hardware but upon closer inspection, i realized that it is actually single braided leather forming a chain, which means pretty friendly to your shoulder. Overall, the shape is actually simple, even bordering classic. It is just the details and the color that makes this bag look seasonal. If you lose the chain at the side of the bag after the next season, you might be able to keep this and use it more frequently in the future. Problem is I dun think the decorative chain at the side is detachable. Then again, if you are one of those uber-fashionistas who do not mind spending GBP2,480 on a seasonal bag, go ahead! It is not a bad deal for a nicely done full python shoulder bag from big name like Gucci.

We featured the runway preview of the Fall 2009 Hermes Birkin back in March 2009 and now Renee Zellweger is seen carrying one in the signature orange. Admittedly, I prefer the classic Birkin for its “older” classy look and feel. I dun know about you but to me, the one Renee is carrying here looks more like an awkward Birkin-look-alike. Perhaps I will change my take upon seeing one in real life but as of now, I take the classic anytime.

Hi Purseholic
I am a purseholic myself and i really really love your blog. I have been saving up for 2 years to get my very first self-purchased designer bag and i am a big fan of Gucci. Could you recommend a shoulder bag (I am a shoulder bag gal) which i could use for work and play? I am quite tall (around 175cm) and i always carry many stuff with me so i need a pretty big one. I like the latest New Jackie but i think it is not suitable for work and too big too. My budget is around $2000.

Hi Lisa
I am a big fan of Gucci myself and my first self-purchased designer bag is Gucci too so High Five!!!
I agree with you that while extremely attractive, the New Jackie O is not suitable for daily use. I will therefore recommend two other Gucci shoulder bags which are more underrated but I have been recommending these to a few friends myself.
First up is the large D Gold Hobo in Guccissima leather. I like the shape and simple styling of the bag and have even helped a friend get this from Europe last year. It is a very nice and practical bag. The size is 38 x 16 x 26cm. The only thing is I am not sure whether it is big enough to load all your stuff. The price in London is about GBP626 and I think it is around SGD1,500 in Singapore. Get it in either black or Chocolate Guccissima leather.
Second and I am really loving this one is the large Jockey Hobo. This is such an underrated Gucci shoulder bag but the details are all very classy and sexy Gucci. The size is bigger than the D Gold at 46.5 x 11.5 x 36cm which is huge but you could surely pull this off with your height. With your budget, you could settle with the GG fabric version (which is lighter for the size too). It costs about GBP744 in London and should be below SGD2,000 in Singapore. The plain leather version costs GBP979 and the most lust-worthy Python version costs GBP2,153. Just get either the fabric or the Python, if somehow you feel like doing something crazy, but maybe not now.
Go to the store and try on both to see which one suits you better! Happy shopping!!!

Despite the buzz around this hot new designer, I had not jumped onto the Wang bandwagon but now after seeing this duffel, I might just will. What a beauty under USD1,000 (USD990, to be exact at Shopbob.com). The Duffel is classy and stylish in a very not “fashion” and imperfect way, which Wang is all about. Oh… one thing is it slouches when not stuffed. It is not one of those rigid duffel bags. LOVE this!

Now you are talking! I am not a fan of Monogram Hexagon for Vuitton’s next season man bag but I am of this one! The Monogram Revelation line is made of supple veal leather which is injected with silicone to raise and imprint the monogram (info shared by a reader in http://www.ilvoelv.com). The lining is also made in the same veal leather in burgundy. This bag is to me waaayyyy more attractive than the Monogram Hexagon Keepall 45. The price? USD4,040 which is like a Grand lower than the Hexagon. It is a no-brainer that the Revelation Keepall45 is a much much better deal!

I have not been fond of or excited with the Monogram Hexagone at all by any bit ever since its debut on the Fall / Winter 2009 man runway and now the bags are officially available in Vuitton stores. The only thing i love about this line is that the bags are lined with leather rather than canvas or cotton but the Hexagon Monogram looks awkward and not fine to me. The prices are not helping either. Keepall 45 is priced at USD5,100 while the messenger bag (named Néo Trocadero) is priced at USD3,950. Maybe for Huge Vuitton fans, but obviously not for me. Is it for you?
