YSL Large Shopping Felt Tote

During the World War Two, many fashion designers were forced to improvise and make do with less expensive materials such as jersey or tweed or substitute silk and cotton or bamboo and woods to substitute metals. It was a blessing in disguise because some houses such as Chanel and Gucci thrived from these changes. I am not sure whether I should call today a tough time, I guess it depends on where in the world you are now but I rarely saw bags made with felt and now YSL seems to experiment with it. It is not all bad, really as materials like fabric, nylon or canvas are not exactly a lot more expensive than felt so I guess it is fine too. The shopping tote is quite nicely done. The first thing that drew my attention to it was the color. The bag is also roomy and clean, somehow remind me of Hermes Valparaiso or Harnais bag. Will I buy it? I don’t think so but designs like this will most likely be popular with Japan market. The price is OK at USD695. Nice touch with the “Y” charm.
