I made a trip to Gucci store today to check out what’s new and interesting. While I was still tired of the many mediocre bags on display there, there are some interesting ones that I consider pretty inspired so we will have a few Gucci posts here this week. The Gucci Stirrup bag has had me on a fence for a while. I have considered it as a good update of the classic Gucci Bardot bag but it was bulky and stiff so I had my reservation. The soft Stirrup from this season seems to have given me the push I need to like it. Price is EUR1,400 for size small and EUR1600 for the size large.

There are two things about Nancy Gonzalez bags that will never get old. First, the exotic skins will always be super gorgeous and luxurious in many choices of colors. Second, there will always be no visible hardware on the bag. How do you create a chain bag collection while maintaining these two unique traits? In the case of Nancy Gonzalez, the chain is being wrapped with the sumptuous crocodile skin. It might have sounded simple but only the artisans of Nancy Gonzalez know best when it comes to playing around with crocodile skin. The Louis Vuitton SC bag might be one of the most understated bags in the Vuitton’s line-up but it is clearly becoming a front runner for favorite to celebrities and mortals alike. It is also clearly becoming a classic bag of Vuitton. I have loved the bag from the first time I laid my eyes on it a few years back and was considering buying one. I have to say that the Turquoise and Corail color for the Cruise 2012 is clearly a hit. I think these colors really brighten up the whole image of the SC bag itself and I can see a potential of Vuitton releasing the bag season after season in various delectable colors like what Hermes is doing with its Birkin and Kelly and Balenciaga doing with its motorcycle bag. How about yellow, green, pink or fuchsia soon? I bet they will be flying off the shelves like no tomorrow. Price is EUR2610 for PM size and EUR3050 for the classic size.

The Chanel Boy shoulder bag is a classic in the making. Before the price gets as crazy as the classic flap bags, start investing in one. The one in medium size costs EUR2,650.

Before I answer your query, may I know why backpack? I think you should be thinking about how to get your boyfriend off backpack and onto something more elegant and classier than a backpack. Seriously, backpack is cute for school boys and maybe up to the college but not an
ymore for anyone beyond the age of 21.
With your budget, do consider heavily (and I strongly encourage) getting a nice handsome briefcase or laptop bag from Prada, Dunhill, Gucci or Vuitton. However, if you must, for whatever reason it might be, get him a backpack, the only backpacks that are bearable are the Louis Vuitton Bosphore Backpack and Louis Vuitton Bongo. Price of both are EUR1,090 and EUR1,080 respectively so should be around SGD2,000 in Singapore.
Do me and millions of other commuters a favor, if you boyfriend does commute on bus or MRT. Please ask him to have the courtesy to take off the backpack and hold it down until he is off the bus or train. It is not nice to have someone’s backpack bumping into you or on your face. Also, I don’t think he should bring it for business meetings, even if it is a Vuitton backpack.That really is how not versatile, inconvenient and troublesome a backpack is. May I recommend briefcase or laptop bag again?
