This is a perfect clutch for all your resort and summer cocktail parties. I particularly like the leather braided handle and the braided leather charm with bamboo bits tied into a ribbon. I have always thought Bottega Veneta’s Knot clutch is the most perfect box clutch ever but this Gucci makes a perfect contender this season. Clutches are big at the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2011 men’s collection. With Vuitton focusing on Asia as its fastest growing market, it is only fitting that they recognize how clutches make an important accessory to the men in Asia. I bought my Taiga clutch from Vuitton in 2008 and it is still a good investment piece. These babies are mushrooming in the runway now.

Like I have said times and again, every woman should have a few clutch bags in classic colors in her wardrobe because it is just wrong to bring a handbag or tote bag to an evening or formal event. When investing in clutch bags, it is smarter to spend on those with classic design and the simpler the design is, the more elegant it usually is. Clutches from Hermes and Ferragamo are, imo, the clear favorites but this Belle Du Jour clutch from YSL is a new winner. This baby is available in varied choices of leather and colors. It is simple, elegant, fuss-free and the logo is tastefully and discreetly stitched onto the clutch without creating unnecessary attention to it . The one featured here is in yellow croc skin, which is not as classic as black, white or red but the yellow shade here is just fabulous so it will still make a great investment piece. One of the Victoria Beckham’s debut bags has already sold out on the net-a-porter.com. Remember when I said that the price of her bags would not be cheap? Well, it is indeed not. Priced at GBP1,500, this small shoulder bag doubles up as a clutch. It is made entirely of leather and nubuck and lined with leather but the price tag, still, in my opinion a tad high for a newcomer. Nevertheless, there is a price to pay for a potentially classic item like this and like I said before, Victoria Beckham bags might just be precious leather goods like those from Hermes. The Loewe Una clutch is one of those clutches which size is suitable for both day and evening use. Made of beautiful leather, it is an elegant and sophisticated handbag with various leather work details, which make it a very special bag. Ever so elegant and feminine, yet intricately designed and produced; I think it is genius to laser-cut gold Italian leather in the pattern of flowers because it is really unique and beautiful. Of course, the last point is one of the things we love most about Kate Spade bags – great price (USD295) for values you find it hard to believe. LOVE this baby!!!

Stella McCartney deserves more credit than most designers today for her perseverance to stay away from leather and skin of any living animals to do well in fashion. Look at this intricately executed wooden clutch. It might not grab your attention instantly upon the first look, especially with its USD2,000 price tag but it is a genius use of wood to make a clutch that is beyond the usual wooden box clutch. This piece of work is currently sold out on the net-a-porter. It is nice knowing that: 1. Economy has recovered and 2. Shoppers today could appreciate intricate works, beyond branding and expensive materials.
