Hot Trend at Chanel – Jade

Long considered as the stone for the royals and the most beloved precious stone in Chinese culture, Jade was always seen as overly traditional for the 21st century but be prepared to loan those Jade jeweleries from your mom and your grandma soon as they are going to be one of the hottest trends, ignited by Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. I love how the trend is so well executed from Jade-adorned rings to clutch, belt and shoes. The beautiful green shade has even been used on the updated classic tweed. On top of that, expect to see the Jade-shade nail polish and mascara on Chanel make-up counter the next time you drop by.

Burberry Overdyed Large Tote

We first featured the Burberry Fall/Winter 2009 runway previews in June 09 and most items are now available in the stores. The Burberry check has been reinvented in many variations and for Fall/Winter 2009, Christopher Bailey has reintepreted it again in military overdyed print which makes it come across tougher and non-pretentious. Featured here are two versions of the tote, one trimmed in smooth leather (left) while the other in crocodile skin (right). Watch out for this trend as there will be more designers trimming their fabric or canvas bags with exotic skins such as crocodile, snakes or ostrich. Meanwhile, for these totes, the smooth leather trim is priced at GBP950 while the croc-trim version at GBP4,000. I am digging the latter.

D&G Crystal Covered Satin Vlada Bag

The latest campaign shot of D&G for Fall / Winter 2009 is among my favourites so far this year and the  Vlada bag, especially the one covered with red crystals, stole my attention. It has been a while since the last time I liked a bag from D&G for its originality and also for its big size (24cm x 40cm). If you pay attention, D&G collection has lately progressed to become a more whimsical and grown-up one, hinting that the D&G audience has also matured and expects more than just tees with a big D&G logo yet is still youthful which diffentiate the brand from Dolce and Gabbana. Pre-order the D&G Vlada bag from Luisaviaroma now for shipment by October 2009. The Vlada bags start from Euro491.67 for full leather version to Euro791.67 for the crystal covered version.

Prada Craquele Tote

I had almost ruled out Prada studded bags completely this season until I saw a lady carrying one exactly like this in a Korean restaurant today. In my opinion the studs along the trims are wayy too crowded but on this  white distressed leather with contrasting black trim, everything seems cool and right. I had seen all the Fall/Winter 2009 bags in the Prada store and I am sure I had missed this one. If you plan to get this bag, only get it in this color or suede grey in leather trim, if there is. I dun fancy the price at USD2,800 either but then again it is a heavily studded Prada.

Balenciaga Work Raisin at HGBags

Erica of HGBags will be expecting a small batch of new Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2009 shipments by next week. If you were in the mailing list, you would have received the alert-email since earlier this week. Anyway, one piece had been released earlier today and it makes me really excited. Balenciaga Work in Raisin is rich deep purple color which would be easy to maintain and more exciting than the usual black or brown. Priced at USD1,395, that is about USD300 and a few months of wait-list savings from the usual price for a Work in a hot color. Buy from HGBags.com immediately before missing this.

Gucci Python Galaxy Large Shoulder Bag

I am pretty sure that this bag will be outdated after the Fall/Winter 2009 so if you are a looking for one that will still be in style for the next few seasons, this is not it. But by itself, it is a pretty bag with the green shades on the softened Python leather body. I had initially thought that the shoulder strap was hardware but upon closer inspection, i realized that it is actually single braided leather forming a chain, which means pretty friendly to your shoulder. Overall, the shape is actually simple, even bordering classic. It is just the details and the color that makes this bag look seasonal. If you lose the chain at the side  of the bag after the next season, you might be able to keep this and use it more frequently in the future. Problem is I dun think the decorative chain at the side is detachable. Then again, if you are one of those uber-fashionistas who do not mind spending GBP2,480 on a seasonal bag, go ahead! It is not a bad deal for a nicely done full python shoulder bag from big name like Gucci.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Hexagone

I have not been fond of or excited with the Monogram Hexagone at all by any bit ever since its debut on the Fall / Winter 2009 man runway and now the bags are officially available in Vuitton stores. The only thing i love about this line is that the bags are lined with leather rather than canvas or cotton but the Hexagon Monogram looks awkward and not fine to me. The prices are not helping either. Keepall 45 is priced at USD5,100 while the messenger bag (named Néo Trocadero) is priced at USD3,950. Maybe for Huge Vuitton fans, but obviously not for me. Is it for you?

Louis Vuitton Bellevue PM in Rose Pop

I was invited to a store opening (Larry Jewelry) at Ion Orchard yesterday. Admittedly, window-shopping diamonds and jewelries worth more than SGD300,000 a piece really perks one up and gives big appetitte for lunch, which in a nutshell means a great day! After Larry, my friend, Jean and I went into the Vuitton store and that is where Jean got hooked by the Vuitton Bellevue PM in Rose Pop. Along with Orange Sunset, Bleu Nuit (blue) and Vert Bronze, the Rose pop (shocking pink) is the new addition of color choices to Monogram Vernis range. I have always like the Bellevue PM for its size, unique shape, material and of course the relatively good price for a full leather Vuitton bag. I am not by nature fond of pink shades (unlike my sister) but I really like this bag upon seeing it. The Bellevue PM in the Rose Pop costs Euro575 (SGD1,390), also available in Red and Orange Sunset but trust more, both are pale in comparison compared with the Rose Pop.

Chanel Coco Cocoon Collection

There are many things to look forward to this September and October. The Vogue September Issue (both the movie and the magazine), Coco Before Chanel, the movie (coming to most parts in Asia only in September) and the exciting reversible bag collection from Chanel, called the Coco Cocoon. Lily Allen is the face of the campaign and the ad looks flawless in black and white, which is very Chanel. I can’t wait to view the bag in person.
