Givenchy Shiny Smooth Nightingale Tote

I am very happy and hooked on with this reinterpretation of Givenchy’s iconic bag. The bag still looks like the original Nightingale bag but without the zip top and volume, it just looks lighter, slouchy and easier to wear. I first saw this tote in DFS Galleria Singapore a few weeks back and still can’t shake it off my head until now. The version I love the most is the khaki color leather with purple suede lining (what a breathtaking combo!) of which the photo unfortunately Luisaviaroma does not display. The black leather with red suede lining and hazel leather with red suede lining (shown here) are certainly amazing too, only slightly less so. Price is EUR1143.3, which gives you a few hundred bucks discount compared to the price in Singapore.

Givenchy Pandora Two-Tone Shoulder Bag

It is amazing how simple update on little details could make something old look totally brand new. The Givenchy Pandora satchel has been around for a few years now but in this black leather with blue leather trims, it looks stunning like a whole brand new IT bag would. Pre-order this bag via Bergdorf Goodman and expect delivery by no later than 24 October 2011. Yes, it is still a few months away but with IT bags, it is always better to get ahead of the competition. Remember how painful it was to get the Celine Luggage bag once you missed it? Never make the same mistake! Price of this bag is USD2,030.

Givenchy Neo Satchel

Givenchy just hit it again with the Neo Satchel. In this shade of red, the large Neo is really irresistible. The Neo makes up for what the iconic Nightingale is lack of – some structure. For whatever reason, even without adornments, the bag still looks edgy and rocker chic. I don’t know how Givenchy did it but it is a bag worth drooling over. Givenchy Soft Leather Tote

Givenchy bags are getting hotter these days. Although none of its other bags has reached the IT status of the Nightingale so far, the recent bags from the house are kind of reminding me of Chloé a few years back before they became the powerhouse it is today. This soft leather tote is classy and casual at the same time, which is hard to achieve. I am also loving more of that 4Gs logo on the front. The bag is available at Harvey Nichols for USD615. A very good buy for a bag of this size (50cm x 30cm x 18cm) and made entirely of super soft leather, if you ask me.

Givenchy Antigona Duffle

The Nightingale bag to Givenchy is the Motorcycle bag to Balenciaga. It put the house into the bag business but the house finds it difficult to create another bag to keep up with THE bag. In fact, the basic shape and design of the Antigona does not deviate too much from the Nightingale except that it is more structured. Do I love it? It is OK but my eyes are on the SGD3,200 large Nightingale bag and SGD1,800 suit I saw in the Givenchy Paragon boutique about two weeks ago. I have been avoiding the spot since then. The Antigona is available at Barneys for USD2,330 for the large size.

There is an underrated force in the fashion today which had been brought back to live that is Givenchy. Hubert de Givenchy hit the heights back in the the days of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Givenchy’s most iconic bag to date might still be the Nightingale but I could safely say that almost every bag they have now is more exciting than most bags from other houses. Look at this Melancholia shoulder bag! The bag is made entirely of soft sheepskin in a very glamorous gold color and crocodile emboss. I think every woman out there now should start buying Givenchy before it becomes commercialized like Bottega now. This baby is priced beautifully at USD1,144, which is a steal at bluefly.com.
