Just when I thought things could not get any nicer and greener with Jil Sander, they proved me wrong in a happy way again! I have been floored by their creations over the past few months and can’t get enough but this classic design bag in the shade of green I never knew exists is just genius. At USD2,100 and lined entirely with leather, I have to declare this baby a HOT bag. Don’t you just love it?

Nina Ricci Liane Satchel

I think Peter Copping is doing a good job turning the fate of the dear Parisian house around. It is still left to be seen whether he could sustain his momentum and reach the success like Phoebe Philo’s in Celine but coming from Vuitton, one thing that Copping learned is never to underestimate the power of an IT bag to a brand’s revival (read Celine, YSL and Balenciaga for reference). The Nina Ricci Liane satchel has the potential to be a great IT bag and it stays true to the image of the house. I just wish the marketing and PR folks in Nina Ricci had worked a little harder to make sure the bags are seen more in the hands of the people that matter.  I have seen the bag in many different versions but this one in full python has got to be the best so far. Pre-order from Neiman Marcus for USD3,750.

Prada Spring/Summer 2012 Bags

The “timeless” move that has re-emerged over the past few seasons due to the gloomy economic condition will drive the fashion industry to its grave sooner than later. While it is good news for houses like Hermes, Balenciaga and Chanel to continue leveraging on its classic pieces only by coming up with new colors, Miuccia Prada has proven yet again that it had to be her to lift the whole industry out from the state of flux. Yes, we are all aware that year 2012 is not going to be good news for European economy so people have to start shopping and dressing up in trend again to turn it around! You see those very seasonal pieces up there on Prada runway? Yep, be ready to shelf your classic Birkins, Chanel flaps and Balenciagas because you will need a new trendy bags come this Spring and the bags from Prada seem perfect!

Fendi Crackled Suede Baguette

Fendi Baguette is widely known as the original IT bag. It was the first bag that everybody MUST own to be regarded as stylish, fashionable or simply non-primitive. After existing for more than a decade and created in hundreds of reincarnation, I can still see the appeal of the Baguette when it is done right. This version is surely one. I am not a big fan of suede bags but Fendi seems to have found a way to make it metallic and crackled, creating texture similar to stingray skin without its rigidity for this Baguette. The price is USD990 and it is available in four colors to choose from: pink, blue, gold and silver.

Gucci Soho Hobo Bag

Gucci owes its revival to super sexed up dresses, killer stilettos and show-stopping bags that Tom Ford created back in the 90s. I still think Frida Giannini did a great job at Gucci and the sales numbers show likewise too but over the past few years Gucci bags have become somewhat too readily available, more tacky than cool, thanks to the abusing of its GG fabric on its cheap bags. I was pleasantly surprised over this Soho hobo bag. It reminds me of why I fell in love with Gucci (and paved my way to many other designer brands) to begin with. The bag carries a whole loads of coolness, aloofness and attitude that has been missing from most Gucci bags for a long time. If the hot red is too much for you, it also comes in black and white colors and I think they are winners too. Price is USD1,750 at Gucci stores.

Miu Miu Padded Leather Shoulder Bag

Well… Miu Miu bags have recently drawn my attention. You might just find whatever you are looking for in a great bag in this Miu Miu. Versatility? Check! Chic-ness? Check! Multiple compartments? Check! Classic design? Check! Beautiful color? Check! At GBP856, it is basically a must-have to me. Oh… add hug-ability onto that list of yours because the fact that it is padded just makes this bag hug-able.

Bottega Veneta Stone Python Brick Bag

Ain’t this stunning? Bottega Veneta Brick bag has stolen my attention since it first came out but the python version in this stone color just took my breathe away. At this size, made entirely of python skin and lined with suede, the price tag of GBP4,170 is in my honest opinion, easily justifiable.
