Lara Stone for Louis Vuitton S/S2010 Campaign

Dutch Supermodel Lara Stone is the new face of Louis Vuitton. Stone is currently one of the most sought-after and highly-paid supermodels in the world alongside Daria Werbowy, Jessica Stam, Gemma Ward, Liya Kebede, Natalia Vadianova, Raquel Zimmermann and Natasha Poly. I was not blown away by this year’s campaigns starring Madonna so I am thrilled to see a new, younger face (stone is 26, which is not that young either in the world of Supermodels but that is the beauty) as the face of the collection.  The collection is inspired by new-age travelers and as a high-flying model, Stone definitely embodies the spirit of the collection. Marc Jacobs got this one right and Steven Miesel did a brilliant job, yet again. You will only start seeing the ads on magazines in February next year so you got to see them first here. These two are my favorites (Click on the images to see it in bigger size).

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Women Bags

We have seen them on the runway and now they are up close. The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Women’s collection is inspired by new-age traveller who unlike the old days, put comfort and utility on top of glamour. With this in mind, Marc Jacobs also remember to have fun because that is what travel is all about these days.

These are the Jacquard bags:

These are how the Monogram Canvas of the season on the classic Noe and Speedy have become:

These are the Monogram Denim Degrade which has been seen on Victoria Beckham. Luckily the fox tail is detachable. The tail is cute for a short while but I dun know which mortal can pull it off without looking ridiculous.

If you notice, most of the bags are messenger or convertible. It is because that is what the travelers today carry.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Presentation

I was invited to the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 RTW and Accessories Presentation at the Nomu today. Being there, reading from the press kit and listening to the concept rationale behind the collection from the PR Director of Louis Vuitton APAC, gave me a new appreciation of Marc Jacob’s work on the collection.  Admittedly, I did not strongly dislike nor like them when I first saw them on the Paris fashion show but I objected to a few items in the collection which existence made sense to me only today. To sum up, I will say I love the RTW collection in general for both men and women. They are beautiful and perfectly balanced between high and street, casual and elegant, serious and tongue-in-cheek, kinda suit my style. There are stunning leather goods I could not shake off my mind until, maybe if I get them myself. Stay tune for the next few days for detailed reports.
