Coco Avant Chanel

If not because of Coco Chanel, women today might still slip into a corset every single time they need to dress classy and elegant. Chanel is the epitome of classic fashion, which in challenging times like now would be the smart choice to go. Vogue Australia runs its June 2009 issue on classics and Chanel is without any doubt, the center of its focus. Before Chanel, Coco was merely a woman fighting to be original in the corset-packed high society of Paris and excitingly this story of the most important woman in fashion will finally hit the theaters in Asia in August 2009. One of my favourite actresses, Audrey Tatou (Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, Hors de Prix) plays the legendary Gabrielle Coco Chanel. Tatou is also the newest face for the world’s best-selling Chanel No.5 parfum, replacing Nicole Kidman. Will this movie become a sucess on the international box office? Enjoy the trailer!

Confessions of a Shopaholic The Movie

Sophie Kinsella’s Rebecca Becky Bloomwood in the best selling Shopaholic Novel series has gained fans all over the world since the debut book introduced in 2000. With such a massive success, it is about time the novels to be adapted into a movie and that time has finally come. The movie would be released in February 2009. I can’t believe it took almost a decade to get this to the big screen but when it happened , P.J. Hogarn (My Best Friend’s Wedding) directed and Jerry Bruckheimer produced. The cast is unexpected yet charming: Isla Fisher (The Wedding Crasher) plays the shopaholic Becky and Hugh Dancy (Ella Enchanted) plays the charming young Millionaire, Luke Brandon.

Expect labels showcasing throughout the movie ala Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada. The 2:23 mins trailer alone can’t leave a Zac Posen dress, Gucci bag and Pucci boots out already. I hope the movie is as hilarious, funny and strong as the books (the movie combines book 1, Confessions of a Shopaholic and book 2, Shopaholic takes Manhattan).
