Prada Saffiano Antik Bag

I have been looking around for my next bag and it is getting more difficult with age. Seriously, my taste has evolved so much that spending a few grands on a bag means I have to be sure that I will still like the bag even in a few years’ time and that it still looks age-appropriate when I get older. Yet, I need the bag to  be unique, not loud or crazy but something that grabs attention for its little details or a healthy dose of quirkiness (I like). After screening many bags from the Man Bag collection Fall/Winter 2010, one that makes the cut is this Prada Saffiano Antik bag. It is classic black Saffiano Prada bag but the slight distressing and coloration on the leather makes it unique and standout from its classic cousins. Furthermore, Prada runway bags are usually highly limited and I don’t have a black bag like this yet. The only problem is that the  price tag is more than SGD3,000 in Singapore and I am not supposed to buy another bag anymore until next year. Then again, it is coming to December soon so we see what the Christmas brings about, shall we?

Prada Shoulder Bag

This small shoulder bag fresh from the Prada Fall/Winter 2010 runway is a reminiscent of the chic “It” Fendi Baguette back in the 90s. This baby will be available soon in your nearest Prada stores or online and the fun thing is… it is available in many many colors and material combo, starting from nylon and leather trim to patent leather and croc trim. Price starts from GBP715 to GBP1,495.

Prada Camouflage Nylon Gauffre Tote

For Fall 2010, Prada upgraded her classic black nylon with Camouflage print. Admittedly, Camouflage on handbags is not the first. Fendi and Louis Vuitton did it a few seasons back but this Prada is somehow more classy and less trendy. Available soon at your favorite Prada and high-end stores for GBP1,080.

Prada Shearling Bowler

It seems like the Fall/Winter 2010 bags will be hot hot! If you want something unique, this Shearling bowler from Prada might be the one you are looking for. The bag is made in Italy of distressed Italian leather (which is divine) and completed with shearling trim and interior of fur from Spain. The price is pretty good at USD2,600 at Saks. If you want a more down-to-earth version of this bowler, it is also available in full deerskin version for USD2,200 and nylon and nappa leather version for nice USD1,395.

Prada Fall/Winter 2010

Prada Fall/Winter 2010 show in Milan last week was a revisiting of the designer’s work in the 90s. People often forgot but when you buy a Prada, it is rare that you could buy it as a look, put it on and go out because they are simply a little out-of-the-world in the world we live in. There lies the genius of Miuccia Prada, who creates looks so foreign, sometimes unbelievable and totally unwearable but if you start breaking the look putting one or two of the elements together, not only it works, it sets you apart. What I am trying to say is that unlike other houses, Prada does not put it out there for you to just take an go, but rather, it challenges you to deconstruct what is on the runway and make it your own off it. Fashion, after all is about imagination and having fun with what you decide to put on. To me, I never could really say much about a Prada collection until they begin showing more on the print ads and in the stores. Mysterious, isn’t it?
