Burberry Spring/Summer 2012 Bags

I am not sure where Christopher Bailey just came back from when he came up with the Spring/Summer 2012 collection for Burberry but the man was surely heavily inspired by rafia. Like I have always said, coming from country like Indonesia where the art of rafia is super accessible, it is hard for me to be impressed by any designers’ rafia anything. It might grow on me in time but I am not counting on that.

Burberry Prorsum Envelope Briefcase

I am still swooning over Burberry bags so pardon me for the repeated posts on Burberry for the past one week. You should however understand why this one has to be featured. Look at this classic inspired briefcase. They just do not make men bags like this anymore nowadays, especially in full alligator skin. Price is SGD35,995. Yes, it is overpriced even for a bag of this caliber of class and beauty.

Burberry Prorsum Luggage Leather Bowling Bag

I have honestly got used to seeing the oversize tassels on the Burberry bags this season. Christopher Bailey seems to have acquired the skill of coming up with something alien when we first see it but then, have us hooked up to it after a while, a skill possessed only by a few great designer like Miuccia Prada, Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs among few today. I am digging this bag very much. The beauty is in the shape, the color, the details and of course those tassels. Price is SGD3,995.

Burberry Textured Alligator Tote Bag

The runway bags line up in the men’s Burberry Fall/Winter 2011 collection is super luxurious with mouth-watering choices in alligator skin in beautiful colors. Look at this vertical tote and you know what I am talking about. This tote is available in this classic color called clay and burgundy. Price, on the other hand, is 5 bucks short of SGD34,000. That’s right – it reads SGD33,995 on the price tag.

Louis Vuitton Portfolio Bag

In the spirit of men rocking portfolio bags this season, Louis Vuitton has introduced one of the most beautiful options for Fall/Winter 2011 in a new leather called Indra. Bear in mind that this is calfskin, NOT elephant like what the texture might suggests (which is a relief, to some extent). I think this is the best and most luxurious new material Vuitton has come up with for the past few years. Vuitton will be releasing this clutch in a few other materials, including the classic Monogram canvas and the smooth calfskin. Prices TBA.

From the classic line-up, the Taiga Minuto portfolio has actually been around for a while now yet underrated. Price is SGD1,900 in Singapore and is available in black and brown.

Burberry Tassel Tote Bag

I am not so sure about the tassels but they are everywhere in this season’s Burberry bags so it seems like we have to accept and embrace it. Price of this bag is USD1,495 and this is very rare but I really really do not know whether I like this bag or not at all or something in between. It caught my attention but I just do not know how to feel about it, like for real.

Burberry Large Belt Check Tote

There is something regal and classic in a vintage-inspired way about this beautiful check bag from the house of Burberry. I think this is one of the rare occasions when over-the-top accessorizing on a bag turns out a great end product. I find myself swooning over this bag. Price is USD1,395 at Neiman Marcus.

Burberry Structured Grainy Leather Holdall

Burberry has just done something the other designer houses shall follow soon: it included Singapore, which obviously a small market compared to markets like US, Japan and China in its list of online shopping site. Technically, it is not something difficult to implement, especially with Burberry having stores almost everywhere around the world today but the point is, the others might never even consider to do it ever until now. Bailey has always put Burberry at the forefront of incorporating technologies into its marketing and branding and think of this as a small step to outdo the others yet again.

Something caught my eyes on the site and it is this handsome leather bag which is appropriate for both the lunar new year and the Valentine’s day, don’t you think? Excuses aside, I would probably have landed my hands on this baby if I had not just got myself a similar bag from Prada (which I love!!). Price is GBP750 at UK site and SGD2,395. You in Singapore, don’t ask me about the exchange rate. It seems like it was still in year 2008.

Emma Watson with Burberry Studded Bag

Have you watched Harry Potter 7 Part 1? I have to say, as a fan of the book, The Deathly Hallow is certainly by far, the best wide screen interpretation of the book and I can’t wait for the Part 2 to come out in July. Now that the Harry Potter movie franchise is closing to the end, one couldn’t help but wonder whether the starlets in the movies could survive beyond Harry Potter. I am here to tell you that at least Emma Watson will.

Ms Watson went to Brown to study literature so we might not be seeing her much for the next few years but with one more blockbuster movie due for release next year plus “the face of Burberry” on her CV, this starlet is a star in the making. Christopher Bailey made the right choice to invest in Watson as the face of the brand as she surely rejuvenates the already super awesome brand to the next level.

Seen here with her new short hair, which looks great for her, casual outfit, awesome pair of Wayfarer style sunnies, I can’t peel my eyes off that great studded Burberry bag she was carrying. The bag is one of Burberry’s classic items and has been reinterpreted for a few seasons now, the latest being part of the Winter Storm collection. The nylon version is priced at GBP1,095 while the python leather version is at GBP3,000. The bag looks great on Emma and it should on most people too.

Oh, did I say that I think Emma Watson kicks ass in the latest Harry Potter too?

Burberry Cable Knots Hobo

Admittedly, Burberry is being very creative with its classic Equestrian canvas. After matching the canvas with different colors of leather, pleating and twisting the canvas, now they add gold leather trims to form what looks like cables. The result on this hobo bag is pretty good to look at. I think the gold leather and canvas combo somehow brings the classiness of the classic canvas to another level, making it looking new and recharged. The cable knots hobo is available at Bloomingdale’s for USD1,195.
