Furla Guggenheim Satchel

I still remember when I first saw this bag on the Furla shop display at ION Orchard and remember thinking it was one of the most appealing new design from Furla I have seen in recent seasons. Made entirely of croc-embossed calfskin, the Guggenheim is a great bag to own, especially at EUR395 only.

Furla Serpentine Shoulder Bag

I have always preferred totes and satchels over shoulder bags but I find myself growing more appreciation towards shoulder bags lately. This shoulder bag from Furla is made entirely of black leather with pleats and layers all over. The details give subdued elegance to an otherwise a very plain bag. The Serpentine is priced at USD595.

Furla D-Light Satchel

Furla is known for its classic, elegant, high quality leather bags and this logo and butterfly print canvas bag is definitely a first to the Italian house. I am not sure I like it despite the fact that it might appeal to the younger crowds, something that Furla bags normally do not. Then again, it might just alienate its core customers. Anyway, I hope this is just a phase. You know like a mid-life crisis? The bag costs USD345.

Furla Rubino Bag

Furla makes classic bags which to the younger crowds, tend to come cross as “old” but over the past few seasons, the house has introduced more colors and shapes that are still pretty timeless but appealing younger. This Rubino tote is a beautiful convertible bag, made of leather with python-effect finishing, available in pink, light blue, black and white. Priced at GBP635, it is just right for a timeless leather bag of this size with a perfect dose of style and elegance.

Furla Man Goa Briefcase

Now the game is on! It seems like Furla is stepping up its effort to gain a bigger pie of the expanding market share of man bags. The Goa briefcase is a very cool bag meant for a cool man too. I am loving the vintage feel from the creased sheepskin, which should be soft and the rich dark brown color which provides a beautiful contrast to the brown-orange web handles and shoulder strap. Price is not bad for a full leather, made in Italy bag at GBP524 too. LOVE it!

ION Orchard Singapore

Finally i visited ION Orchard yesterday and while the interior design and arrangement of the mall is pretty much a let-down mainly due to its small walking space and big crowds, the shops are exciting and some are long due to arrive in Singapore. Taking the mall front are Prada, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Cartier and Giorgio Armani and once inside, we have Valentino, Ferragamo, YSL, Dquared (first in Singapore), Car Shoe, Miu Miu, Zegna, Bally and many more on the first level. On the second level, Church’s and Herve Leger are due for opening. Burberry’s store is impressive and big, next to the Harry Winston and Boucheron. Up to the third level we have Longchamp, Furla and 6Five Barcode which carries about 20 brands including Costume National, Galliano, MCM, Just Cavalli and Roccobarocco. Overall, the mall is a nice addition to Singapore’s beloved Orchard Road but the lack of a big upscale department store such as Harvey Nichols or Barneys and the small walking space between shops on the first and second floor is making the mall itself less impressive than its awesome exterior.

Furla Doctor Bag

One of the best value-for-money leather goods brands around is Furla. All Furla products are still proudly made in Italy and unlike most of its Italian counterparts, the house is still not scrimping on materials such as leathers. While the design of the bags are generally less fashionable and more classy, there are some interesting pieces occasionally. Take this Doctor bag, for example. It is rare to see a doctor bag this feminine with the pleated leather flap and the “Chanel”-esque clasp. Measuring 17″W x 10 1/2″H x 7″D, the bag is pretty huge and is perfect for lady doctors or any woman who wants a big yet feminine bag. Talking about the value-for-money, the bag is priced at USD595 in Nordstom. There is no way you could find a decently designed, full leather, made in Italy bag from Prada or Gucci at this price anymore these days.
