Fendi Washed Calfskin Cut-out ‘F’ Tote

I saw this tote on display in the Marina Bay Sands last month and it has been haunting me ever since.  Then again, what is there not to like really? The whole bag, including the detachable shoulder strap and the additional zip pouch inside is made of washed calfskin. The design of the bag is simplistic yet handsome and very classy, making it somewhat anti-trendy too. Best of all, for such a bag, Fendi is just charging USD950! I can’t believe my eyes when I saw the price and on bluefly.com, there is even further 20% off, making it only USD760! I am no longer in a market for a new bag now but if I were, this would have been the first to go with.

Burberry Structured Grainy Leather Holdall

Burberry has just done something the other designer houses shall follow soon: it included Singapore, which obviously a small market compared to markets like US, Japan and China in its list of online shopping site. Technically, it is not something difficult to implement, especially with Burberry having stores almost everywhere around the world today but the point is, the others might never even consider to do it ever until now. Bailey has always put Burberry at the forefront of incorporating technologies into its marketing and branding and think of this as a small step to outdo the others yet again.

Something caught my eyes on the site and it is this handsome leather bag which is appropriate for both the lunar new year and the Valentine’s day, don’t you think? Excuses aside, I would probably have landed my hands on this baby if I had not just got myself a similar bag from Prada (which I love!!). Price is GBP750 at UK site and SGD2,395. You in Singapore, don’t ask me about the exchange rate. It seems like it was still in year 2008.

Gucci Textured Leather Briefcase

White briefcases are tricky to pull off for a man so it is best to be avoided but some bags are so impressive, it is worth taking the risk. This textured leather bag from Gucci is modern, stylish and not boring at all for a briefcase but not too over-the-top for a white bag. The texture of the leather is neat too, making it looks prim and proper. Priced at USD1,790, it is not a cheap bag but it is one of the best Gucci man bags I have seen recently.

Ben Minkoff Gregger Leather Tote

This is freaking exciting! Rebecca Minkoff’s debut collection for men, Ben Minkoff (named after her grandfather who was a fighter pilot in the WWII) does not disappoint at all. In fact, it seems like it would be a hit when it finally hits the stores, not only with the guys but with the girls, for some of the pieces. The Gregger full leather tote is without doubt the best piece. Admittedly, it looks as cool as one of the military-inspired Burberry totes a few seasons back. The thing is, the Burberry bag costs around SGD3,000 whereas this one is under SGD700. This handsome tote is also available in the fabric version but it is obviously nowhere close to as cool as this one here. Man bags are slowly become an integral part of a man’s collection and as a purseholic, it just means more excitements coming our way.

Merry Christmas, people! Enjoy the holiday!

Valextra Slim Briefcase

Gentlemen… you need a nice briefcase for work and even if you are a traditionalist, it does not have to be black and boring. If budget were not an issue, a briefcase like this Royal Blue Valextra is what you should get yourself. Price is USD2,800 from Barneys.

Askme – Bags on My Wish List

Hi Purseholic

Just curious, what are the bags on your wish list now?

Jay, Singapore

Hi Jay

I don’t wish to burst your bubble but honestly there is not any one bag high on my wish list for now. Blame it to the designers who, in my opinion, have been slacking on the man bag department lately. For the next season, however, there are some bags that might trip me back into love.

Gucci Unisex Hobo bag for Fall/Winter 2010

Gucci Fall/Winter 2010 promises the return of the unisex Hobo bag. Like the Jackie and the Bamboo, the Hobo is one of the house’s most iconic bags, made popular mostly by Peter Sellers. I have been waiting for Frida to bring this back into Gucci collection for a few years now and this is exciting me. I just hope it comes in a leather version instead of just the suede version because Singapore climate is just not forgiving to suede.

Givenchy Biker Bag Nightingale

Another bag I am coveting is the Givenchy Nightingale, which reached its IT status thanks to the Olsen twins but is now the house’s staple bag. Givenchy made the man bag out of the classic starting this year with at least two variations for its men’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection.  I have not seen the bags in person so I am not sure whether it stands well to the original. However, even if it does not suit my taste eventually, I might just get the large version of the original. Givenchy is opening in Paragon Singapore soon and hopefully it satisfies the society’s cravings for the Nightingale.

Tod’s D Bag Bauletto

Of course, there are also some women bags that I love so much I hope the designers would have the sensibility to pick up the cues and come up with the man bag. If the bag is not girly to begin with and it could be a man bag just by blowing it up, why not? I am talking to Alexander Wang for the Rocco bag and Derek Lam for the Tod’s D Bag Bauletto here.

Hermes HAC 40 in black Clemence

Lastly, there are some classic bags on my list but they will wait simply because: one, I still have not got the moolah to spare and two, I still have other priorities in life (more  holidays, more properties, cars, watches and art pieces, to name a few). Those babies are the Loewe Amazona 44 in dark green Ostrich and Hermes Birkin 40/HAC 40 in navy blue Fjord.

Just FYI… if you happen to be feeling generous, I will take any one of the above any time.

Tod’s Leather Computer Bag

Ok guys, this is the best deal ever and by ever, i mean in a really really loooong time. Tod’s leather computer bag is so handsome and luxurious it kicks my Vuitton Monogram Canvas Sac Bosphore in its back. I have loved this bag since the first time i saw it although i still love the tall version more (not available anywhere else but on Tod’s website catalog only) but i am willing to make do with such a big mark-down at Barneys. The original price of this bag was USD1,850 which was pretty okay for the full leather, elegant, classy look but now at USD739???? If it were to be marked down just as much here in Singapore, i might get tempted.

Burberry Mega Check Bag

It seems like in challenging times like this, everyone in Burberry has been working extra hard to come up with many products to lure spending. Like i have said again and again, with the Sterling Pound cheaper now, there has never been a better time to indulge in something from Burberry. For this season, Burberry tweaked its Nova check and make it darker, somewhat more military and i love the collection from its clothes, coats to its bags. Burberry Prorsum line, especially has grown dressier, edgier, sexier and grown-up, reflecting the spirits of its Creative Director, Christopher Bailey. Love this bag for its casual cool appeal and although the signature check is all over, it looks classy and subtle with the darker tones. Available at Neiman Marcus for USD1,495.
