Marc Jacobs The Venetia Bag

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of Marc Jacobs The Venetia Bag. Its mildly sporty facade does not mean there is nothing glamorous about it. The bag is made entirely of super soft calfskin. That alone is glam for me. It might not be really exciting new piece but it does have the potential to be a keeper. Price is USD2,095.

Marc Jacobs Wellington Classic Tote

The Marc Jacobs Wellington is an essential piece, made of buttery leather with striking goldtone hardware and dual straps. There is no much fuss or highlight on the bag, which makes it understated but not the point of bare like most Jil Sanders are. I am not crazy about this bag but it is a Spring piece that would outlast its season and a great IT bag antithesis. Price is around USD1,195.

Marc Jacobs The Easy City Bag

Marc Jacobs bags are generally lady-like, more of Dior or YSL feel but this Easy City bag somehow gives me a Balenciaga or Mulberry bag. There is some casual rawness about it, which I like. The geez of the bag might be in the details like its stitching or the cracking leather but it is surely a great bag to carry around the city easily like its name suggests. The Marc Jacobs Easy City bag is priced around GBP975 at Harvey Nichols. Will it be as iconic as the Marc Jacobs Stam or Balenciaga City? Not a chance, but it is a bag worth considering.

Marc Jacobs Small Gilda Handbag

Leave it to Marc Jacobs to design something that might sound ridiculous as an idea (leather, plastic sequins, fox and raccoon fur… oh my!) but ended up looking so beautiful, almost whimsical. This is definitely a very very chic bag to carry around and appropriate from brunch to dinner, even to a formal evening event IMO. The small Gilda is the only glamorous accessory you need for this season but with so many other equally beautiful bags to choose from Marc Jacobs’ collection this season, it is going to be hard to stop at one. Think of it as the season to pile up on Marc Jacobs bags. Does that sound crazy? The small Gilda is up to grab at Nordstrom for USD1,995.

Marc Jacobs Camille Satchel

There are just many many gorgeous Marc Jacobs bags to sing about for this season. Finally Fall is here! To kick off the “concert”, is Camille. I am not sure who Camille Marc Jacobs named this bag after but all those vintage attributes such as the glazed leather, structured shape of a classic bag and slightly tarnished golden hard wares are really irresistible. Think of it as a bag you could pass down to your offspring, given if it is properly maintained, of course. At USD1,850 from Nordstrom, the Camille is among the best bags to buy I have seen this season.

Marc Jacobs Garbo Greta Flap Shoulder Bag

Marc Jacobs names his bags after beautiful women from all walk of lives. Ms Garbo is one of the most iconic Hollywood actress despite the fact that she had appeared in less than 30 movies only. Nevertheless, I think Ms Garbo is certainly one of the most beautiful actresses Hollywood ever had and the Marc Jacobs bag does do justice to both her legacy, beauty and ability to endure trends and test of time. Marc Jacobs has created many investment-worthy bags and the Greta Garbo is definitely one to invest in. It is currently available for puchase at Saks for USD1,495.

Marc Jacobs Westside Duffle Bag

The duffle is definitely one of the most, if not the most, loved shape of bags. There is no wonder why Louis Vuitton Speedy is such a good-seller and every house has its own iconic duffle bag design. Marc Jacobs might have been a little late into the game but boy… this is probably one of the best duffle bag designs I have seen over the past few years. The Westside duffle is still all about Marc Jacobs’ iconic details such as the quilted leather, padlock and interlocking chains on its handles. The price, IMO, is very good too at USD1,150. It is currently available for pre-oder at Neiman Marcus.

Dolce & Gabbana Cervo Doctor Bag

The Doctor bag is one highly classy and bag design of which Marc Jacobs’s iconic Stam was based on. Dolce bags have not always been on our primary radar all the time but I have to say that this bag is a worthy investment. Another thing I love about this bag is the fact that it is lined with leopard print into which the bag opens. Then again, the usual problem with Dolce bags is the price point, which in this case is USD1,945, around USD500-USD700 higher than a standard Marc Jacobs Stam bag.

Marc Jacobs Stam in Parachute

I am loving Cheryl Cole’s new song “Parachute” and I think the video is smoking hot. That in fact reminds of a trend about 10 years ago where parachute material was widely used in fashion from bags to pants and I was crazy about them. Ten years later, my question is now, would you buy a USD995 bag made almost entirely of parachute even if it is the classic Marc Jacobs Stam? I am not so sure I will but I am pretty sure it is lightweight and highly water and dirt resistant.

Marc Jacobs MJ Leather Bag

Marc Jacobs usually names his bags after a girl, whether a supermodel or a movie actress. This bag is an MJ, I am not sure whether that stands for Mary Jane or Marc actually names it after himself. Afterall, this “girl” deserves a bag of his own too. What a beautiful classic bag this is with the glazed leather and croc-embossed trimmings. I am in love with the color and all the details of the bag too. Seems like the HOT Marc Jacobs bags we saw from the Fall 2010 preview are phasing in gradually. The MJ is available at Saks for USD1,495.
