Sergio Rossi Python-embossed Bugatti

Classic and classic! The Bugatti is one of the classic designs of bags of which the Louis Vuitton Alma and Hermes Bolide was based on. Sergio Rossi is one of the underrated Italian gems in fashion alongside the likes of Trussardi 1911 and Valextra. Look at this Rossi Bugatti! Isn’t this what a luxury bag supposed to look like? It does not give away at the first look and it does not give you any clue of what it is either. All you see is quality and workmanship and style that endures trends. The Rossi Bugatti is priced at USD1,650. It looks way more than that to me and this is what a great designer purse supposed to do.

Jil Sander Cervo Classic Satchel

Jil Sander continues impressing me with its beautiful leather bags. It is true that this satchel bears some resemblances with the Hermes Kelly on its shape and design and the orange color happens to be close to Hermes’ signature color too but who cares when it by itself qualifies as a beautiful bag. The size, like the other bag we featured last month is huge at 11″ x 20.5″ x 7.25″ so I guess for Jil Sander this season, big is beautiful. The price is pretty good at USD1,595 for a huge full leather bag like this. Available at Barneys now, also available in color Camel.

The Beautiful Life

There was a new show on the CW but it has been cancelled only after two episodes. I hate when this happens to a good show and I love this show. The Beautiful Life is produced by Ashton Kutcher, starring Sara Paxton, Mischa Barton, Supermodel Elle Mcpherson alongside beautiful young cast who, in my opinion, could have just been the next big things like the “Gossip Girl” cast given better scenario. The show zooms into the life of models in a NY modeling agency trying to make it in the cut-throat business of fashion and how their lives entangled with each others’. Like any other good TV shows, there are great looking people, drama and romance, of course but let me warn you that these people look even better than real models without make-up.

I am happy to find out that the first two and the first unaired episode (episode 3) have been made available on Youtube and rest of the unaired episodes will follow up. I just hope the show would be such a  big hit on Youtube that it will be picked back by CW or another channel and continues. There have just been way too many good shows being cancelled over the past twp years and if The Beautiful Life could find a way to survive without TV commercials, it might revolutionize the way we TV shows work. I have an idea – the show is like a live advertising spread on a fashion magazine for designers such as Zac Posen (whose show opened the show), Versace, Christian Lacroix, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Givenchy and Calvin Klein. Did they pay to be featured? What better way to show your dress or bag than putting them on the models on a show?

Bringing Home the Birkin

I am currently reading this book and I have to say, so far I am impressed by the superb writing and story-telling, plots and witty jokes by Michael Tonello. I am not sure how Hermes is taking this book but hey it is a free publicity still, don’t you think? Hermes Birkin is certainly the world’s most coveted bag, with wait-list or otherwise. I have just finished the first half of the book, can’t wait to get back to the remaining pages soon. It makes great Christmas gift too, you know?

We are 1!!!

Purseholic.com is ONE year old and we are would like to take this opportunity to thank all our beloved readers and industry friends for the enormous supports. We have enjoyed bringing our daily take on bags to you and hopefully we will continue to grow bigger and more exciting. Always remember this: “Clothes and Shoes discriminate by size but Bag is for everyone regardless of your size and shape. Also, in uncertain times like now, an Hermes Kelly is a better bet than most stock markets”

We wish you all the best for the rest of the year 2009 and the coming year 2010. Work hard, enjoy everyday as a blessing.

Farewell to Michael, The King

The world has lost its biggest pop star. Michael Jackson had inspired millions of people to dare to dream and make a career in the music industry, dare to dance and make elaborated and well-coreographed video music and redefined the pop music scene from the 80s to 90s. Michael was a friend to thousands and an idol to millions (or even billions). It will take a while for us to get used to the idea of the world without Michael Jackson. Nevertheless, his work lives on. Long live the King!
